Hello all, Just found the forum after a Google search.
Ive smoked for a couple years, but consider myself a neophyte yet.
I use a Grill Dome, A Cabelas Bradley and a Brinkman Pro Series 2500.
I hope my choices of Smokers will fit in with all the fancy ones here.
I retired from Truckdriving in 2006 and love being retired, never new one could be so bizzy all the time, but love to fire up the Smokers.
Im looking for some good recipe ideas on doing a Brisket. We are hosting 2 bus loads of Ragbrai'er next wed and want to have something ready to sample.
Also want to hear from a poster in Tama, named Eric, who are you? lets meet and I can learn. Chuck

Welcome to the forum..Great people in here..check out the brisket section lots of ideas..glad to have you join us..we are FAMILY

Hey man,

Don't know about the bbq capitol, lots of arguments about that one!!!

I too have a grilldome, we may be the only ones on this forum.

Do you have the platesetter or the hanging rack? I'm looking into them now. I just got the grilldome a few months back used on craigslist.

Look forward to seeing your smokes.

tnx guys, on the Grill Dome,Ive had for about 5 years, and dont have a plate setter or hanging rack, would like to though.I use Menards fire bricks at times for indirect.
Future is the keyword BBQ capitol. How about it guys,do we have to stage a Throwdown? haa.Shades of Bobby Flay....
Im just learnin this art,so always open to any ideas.will have to get Eric to show me how to post photos here.

Welcome to SMF I don't know about the BBQ Capital but there sure are lots of members here from Iowa. Theres plenty of good info and recipes around here. There are also people willing to answer questions when you have them too. Have fun and happy smoking

is it the large grilldome?

I've got the med, a bit small, but I picked it up for $50, so I can't complain.

Low and slow for me has been a bit tough with it since I have no really good way to do indirect. Still learning with that one.

Any pics of your setup for indirect?

welcome... it's not the smoker, it's how you run it. some people have very nice smokers and can't use them for crap. others have great success with cardboard boxes. sit down and stay a while.

I dont know how to post pics yet.
what I did,was go to Home Depot, they have many BBQ accesories and bought a smaller grill screen, that sets down lower in chamber and a couple of firebricks, there abt 1.25"x4.5"x9",came in a box of 6 I believe.
I have the large GrillDome. you got a huge buy at $50..I wish I could find another for my son that cheap.
