Is it necessary to season a new smoker? if so how is it done? I am new to this smoking thing and it looks like it is going to be some real fun and lots of great food. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Henry

Spray the inside with Pam or a light coat of vegitable oil. Put some wood in there and crank it up to 350-400 and run for an hour. That will get the metallic taste out right away. As you start smoking, it will get better with age.

Thanks for the info. I kinda thought it would be the same as my cast iron cookware but I was unsure if it would be the same.

Henery,
Its close to cast iron cookware but not quite the same. Cast iron should ALWAYS be seasoned at a temperature no less than 425 degrees F. I season ALL my iron at 500 F.
