Well I just got my smoker late Tuesday and tonight I'm going to season it. Friday will be my first smoke I plan on doing a couple of fatties and some jerky. Any words of wisdom/advice for a starting smoker? So hopefully by friday night I can give my first Q-view

BTW I got a GOSM wide body

Jerky is usally done seperately, beacuse it's typically done at cooler temps... but you can do it with the fatties. You don't cook jerky so much as dry it. Be sure to have the jerky on the top. Don't want fatty fat dripping on it. You know jerky needs a cure right? Usually a 24 hour process. If you have not done it before, I'd do some searching and reading on it CK.

Ok thanks for the tip about the jerky I might do that on another day then so I can get a better grasp of how jerky is done. Is there a post with basic instructions for jerky
