My name is Richard and I have been a lurker for quite some time. My wife has been telling me that it's much more fun to be an active member of a forumso here I go. Four years ago I got a propane ECB, and used that with limited success till the Silver Smoker came along 2 years ago. Challenging! After some serious modifications, 1/4" thick baffle plates, charcoal basket, raising the charcoal grate and most impressive of all,
a new 4" diameter smoke stack welded in at the bottom of the chamber, success! The temps are fairly even side to side! I use this unit mainly for ribs these days. Last Fathers day my wife got me a WSM. Awesome unit.
I use this for the longer cooks, butts, brisket, just once and chuck rolls.
The back yard is so much better smelling now that we have Smokin' Meat there. Thanks for all of the help so far and I hope that some words of wisdom and knowledge can come for me to you and any other noobs out there.

welcome......your wife is right, but don't let her know that

Hia Dick! Glad ya hitched up the wagon to the train. Your wife is very wise... :{). Now you can waste endless hours here and really ENJOY it! Haha!

Welcome to SMF!

Dick, I have got a silver smoker. Do you by any chance have pictures of the modifications to the silver smoker you own or do you not even have it anymore? I am looking to do mods to mine as well and would love to see some of other silver smokers mods.

If anyone reads this and has any input please let me know where I can find pictures of these.

Hey Smokin Jack I still have the Silver Smoker, It's too cool looking not to keep it. I do have pictures of all the changes, but since I am a computer dunce, my ever lovin' wife will have to help me post them. I will try to get them up this evening. Or maybe tomorrow.

Sounds good. I like my silver smoker, I have some complaints, but I think they goes for anything you would use. all in all though I have had great success with mine.

you can private message me the pics or email them to me. I will send you a private message with my email. thanks.

Welcome to SMF glad ya came outta the shadows and joined the party.

Welcome Richard, you're now part of the best smokin' site on Mother Earth, SMF that is.

Ain't that the truth! If I spent a lot of time in here when I first joined, I don't know what my post total would be! This forum has turned into my nightly entertainment!

Sure is a small world, I live in Methuen now but lived on Dale st for 7 years (the little one way section) and my parents live on Sugarcane lane. I'm a newbie here and have pretty much learned everything I know about smoking from this site... been doing mostly ribs and butts since I got my smoker in April. Will venture a little and try some more stuff soon.

Thanks for the welcome, all. This truly is a wonderful place, full of wonderfull and helpful people. I have learned a LOT about this sport here and hope I can give back some knowledge some time. Smoke on.
