Hi everyone! Just wanted to say thanks for all the help... I went to BJ's friday night to get a butt, but they only had one single and it was a beast, so I ended up with two butts... 15lbs total. One is probably 8lbs and one is probably closer to 7lbs. I rubbed them down w/ mustard and Jeff's rub yesterday afternoon. Then (and the wife thinks I'm insane for this) I got up at 4am to get the smoke going! Managed to stumble around the house and find my camera for a pic as they were going on, and I'll post it shortly and try to keep you folks posted on their progress!

Good luck with everything. You're off to a good start. In for a big treat when those get done.

Okay here's the first view fir 4am when I dropped these beauties in the GOSM:

I think most folks around these parts understand. Shows your dedicated.

I haven't done that in a while. I simply prefer to get the butts going before going to bed and let them work all night. I've got my smoker to the point that it allows me to get >6 hours of sleep with no problem.

I figured folks around here could understand! Here's another shot from about 8am:

Off to a nice start, jfoust. Keep up that qvue and remember that a plateau will hit ya soon where the temps stall for a bit. Dont' worry about it and let the meat ride out the wait at that constant temp of 225-240. Low and slow ...

Good lookin' grub so far!!

Looks great keep the Qview coming

I never imagined me saying this to another man....But, boy, you have great looking butts there.

And the butts are touching each other too! EEWW!

The smoke looks good, just stay patient when the plateau comes. I for one can relate to getting up ealy to fire up the woodburner. But I like it.

Seems like BBQ tatstes better after only 3-4 hrs of sleep. Then there is the post BBQ nap, which is a tradition around here!

Unless there is a wings, tigers, wolverines game or nascar race. Then the nap has to wait till bedtime!
