I see that a lot of you guys and girls have a number in your title, and I was wondering what you have to do to become a member of the OTBS. If it is some good old fashioned hazing, count me in, I can't get enough of that ****.....chris

well it takes a bit of work and dedication. Here is a start for those who would like to have the title. It aint easy!

Good luck to you and others. It is a title that many of us are very proud to have, and work dilegently to achieve!
I am truly honored to become one of the newest Knights along with a group of truly talented and dedicated individuals.

Lots of smokin, postin q-view, sharin information with other folks, just been a good neighbor. It's alot a work, but well worth the effort. Some other OTBS member has ta nominate ya, then yall are approved to be a squire, then ya get yer promotion to a full fledged OTBS knight. I can highly recommend workin towards it.

I really like this site but had a question. I noticed there are 10000 plus members, of which a little over 1800 are active on the forum. Recently while reading the posts I noticed a large portion of the members recently joined. Is smoking a hobby which most of the other members lost interest in a relative short period of time?

I don't think it's a matter of losing interest. People move on to other things, other forums, they get wrapped up with their lives and don't have the free time they once did to spend it on a forum. A lot of poeple just come here to look but don't participate. A lot of members come to visit at certain times of the year. You'll see a lot of turkey posts around Thanksgiving, questions about ham at Christmas and Easter and a lot of people with new smokers who need advice around father's Day and the summertime.

You'll find it's a very addicting hobby.

Outstanding, I mostly just read too hoping to learn off of somebody else's questions.

That's great you're reading what's already out there. Definitely encourage you to throw a post out there if you're in need of a quick answer, or if you can't find something. That's what makes this site so great, the friendly people that will try to help ya.

Ron, you described my user to a T.

It wasn't a question of moving on for me, it was an issue of being easy to keep up when the kid was 3, and sleeping by 8pm, with little to do on weekends, to now being 9, on a swim team, 5 days a week practice and weekend meets, cheerleading, girl scouts, etc.

Heck, this weekend is 22 kids over for glow in the dark minature golf and sleep over party.

Unfortunately, my time at SMeats and a few other forums is now next to nothing.

I do however read up here alot. Don't see Dutch, Monty, or Jeff FL much anymore. I assume they got busy too.

But all the new folks jumping in and posting makes me come back and read often.

Good smoke to you all!

Glad to hear from you Bill and know all is well. Post when you can, we will be here!
