Well after only joining a few days ago I spent quite a bit of time on this forum and the internet in general trying to figure out what to get. I finally had it down to (From high to low): A stumps gravity fed charcoal, Klose stick burner (being from Texas I know I am in trouble),Traeger Lil Tex Elite, or a WSM with a stoker.

My wide really made the decision for me. The Stumps was just too much and the other reason was the charcoal (which also wiped out the WSM) The wife did not want to be storing lots of lump charcoal (due to the mess.) I tried to explain that it was not a big deal but after a while you learn which battles to fight.

So the Klose was nice but I also voted this one down. I am at a point in my life where tending a fire all night long is not going to heppen very often. I really would rather be able to focus on the rub and marinade side than the fire side. I have done the stick thing in the past and have had success and fun but decided I would try something else.

I pulled the trigger on the L'il Texas Elite with a digital thermostat added in and the cold smoker as I want to try some cold smoked items such as cheese and some cold smoked fish as well.

I should be taking delivery on it sometime this week. I know know pics and it never happened. So later this week I shall prove out my madness and maybe next weekend even add soime q-view.

I watned to thank everyone as there is great information on this forum. I look forward to becoming a premioum member in the very near future. Any suggestions on the use and hopefully not too much abuse is very welcome.

Congrats on the new smoker................There are a few other pellet poopers on the site, so I am sure they will be happy to give you a hand with it.............

Welcome to SMF, glad you've joined us. The rig you got sounds interesting, will have to do some more reading on pellet smokers.

It's great to hear the excitement in your post about becoming a premium member of SMF. That's great, we're just happy you're here!

Congratulations! I just went to a mini-stick burner myself for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned.

I think you will enjoy your pellet pooper. I have a Smith & Wesson 38 Special, which is a less expensive version of the lil texas. Have really enjoyed how easy if seems make everything. No bad experiences yet.
