Bowling Green Oh
Hi, I'm Keith and I am from Maumee Oh. I just got started with Bbq last fall right before the weather turn bad. I did manage however to smoke a couple of Boston Butts and a brisket. The first pulled pork was a little tough, pulled it out of the smoker too soon like a newbie would. Just too eager to chow down I guess. Next I tried a brisket, It was done and very tender but a little to smokey. My wife and I burbed

for hours afterwards lol. So, my first 2 attemps were learning experiences. Then finally some success. The next two pulled porks were really great (made many toast to our success). Anyway I'm glad to be here with all of you to share and learn about smoking meats and other food. Imagine having a hobbie that is so much fun,can include family, neighbors and friends, get to chow down some fantastic food and wash it down with beer. Whatever took me so long to discover this hobbie I don't know. But like I said I'm darn glad to be here.

My starter smoker is a little Mecco w/mods. It is what it is,a cheapie. But it works for now.

Sincerely,
Keith

You gone and done it now! By next summer you'll have a new bigger smoker and a second freezer! Wanna bet me?

Welcome to a great family of very knowlegeable people.

Welcome Keith, Did the same when I started. Get some cold brews on ice, sit back and go low and slow. When ya think its done sit back down and drink 5-6 more. Possibly done by then. This from experience.

Keith, Welcome from just north of ya. A great bunch of folks here and a bunch of great info is already on the SMF.

I'm with Dan on this one! I started smoking a year ago in my home made galvanized trash can smoker. I have made a substantial upgrade since and have added a fridge and a deep freeze to my completely overstuffed garage. Welcome to the forum and to your new found passion! (Hobby is something you like to do on the side - smoking is something I think about whenever my mind wanders. It used to be girls. God I need a life!)

Gee wiz....Thanks to everyone for the big welcome. Sounds like there is a lot of experience here, which is great.

Since I'm doing ok with the butt, what do you all recommend I try next? Open to suggestions.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Keith

Keith...welcome to the smf. Lots of great people on here and lots of good information.
As far as trying something different for your next smoke, may I suggest a Fatty or maybe some chicken's. In any case you will be hooked on this smokin thing.

Happy Smokin

Steve
