Doing up 2 9lb shoulders that were on sale for about $8 each. One of them in my normal rub the other left plan stuffed with garlic. 3 racks of spares and 4 racks of BB all with jeffs rub but one rack of BB as sort of an experiment. Q view uploading.

only odd thing so far is one of the shoulders is already at 120* and its only been on an hour. The smoker temp has never gone above 235*
 
Can't wait to see your pics!! Does sound like its going kind of quick, probably was at room temp for a while?
 
I'm jealous! Gonna work on the deck and smoker today so probably won't smoke this weekend unless I do a fatty tom. Can't wait to see your vittles, will drool while wishin it was mine!
 
both at room temp for about an hour and a half. right now 35* difference, the one with rub is lower at 104* and the other without rub is at 139*. I am thinking now that i might have the probe to close to the bone.

after an hour the BB went on two bottom rack 2 upper rack




also steve this is the size sticks I use
 
I was semi right Steve I had the probe at too much of an angle making it almost pop out of the bottom of the meat. Repositioned the probe and the temp droped.

ribs came off about an hour ago, would have posted sooner but with people coming over and eating couldnt get around to it. shoulders are still on.

thanks Trav. shoulders seem to be sitting at somewhat of a plateau at around 180 and 185. been on for about 9hrs now cooked pretty fast for temp holding at 220-235 all day.
 
ribs all gone but i have the two shoulders for the games today. the one only stuffed with garlic came pretty good. not too much flavor but thats how they wanted it.
