Brinkman Square Verticle Smoker... With 2 doors

I'm tinkering with the idea of getting a smoker. I had a MES but I hated that thing.

So I was at home depot and saw what I guess is the new Brinkman square verticle smoker. It has 2 doors on it, one for the meat and one for the fire. I've searched and I can't find any other info on this guy. It's not even on Brinkman's website. Has anybody else seen it or tried it out?

It may just be my inexperience, but I couldn't get the thing to smoke worth a flip. It doesn't hold much wood, so I would put my wood soaked chips in there and they would burn up not long after they actually started smoking... So I tried adding a little more wood, which still wasn't alot, but that seem to overwhelm it and it wouldn't even smoke at all with that. It ended up being an expensive slow cooker for me.

I have one. I needed a smaller smoker than my horizontal wood burner.

It's OK for a small one, my main complaint was the charcoal bowl. Didn't seem to get enough air to heat up as high as I wanted.
I use a home made expanded metal charcoal box in it and it works a lot better.
Other than that, it's ok for the

Thanks Cowgirl.

What kind of temps are you seeing? Does it easily maintain those temps?

Home Depot, Ace hardware sell the small Smoky Joe charcoal replacement grates. I had a problem getting my heat up so I put the grate in the charcoal pan to give it airflow for heat...It worked! Make sure there are holes in the charcoal pan, if you do all this youll be smokin!! PS use lump charcoal, it burns hotter and longer. I have the older model with only one door and it does the job. Ive gotten it up to 300 degrees steady on a nice day!

How much baby sitting does this guy require?

I don't mind checking it every couple of hours, but I defiantly don't want to have to sit by it all day.

I'm also entertaining the GOSM and the Lowes BBQ Grillware smoker.

How did you build it? How much impact on heat?
