Welcome to the SMF family, Jerry! Glad to see more of FL represented in the forum, I'm on the east coast - 25 miles south of Daytona Beach.

Light up our skies with that TBS and definitely take that 5-day eCourse.

Welcome aboard Jerry, glad to have ya! GOSM is a great unit right out of the box. Just got mine little over a week ago and like it lots. Wash your rack, spray down everything inside with canola oil (or similar) and throw some wood in, put water in your pan and smoke, that is what the directions say, I ran mine about 3 hours. I then resprayed my racks and it was ready for use. There are a few mods I've done to mine, you don't have to, but makes using mine a little easier for me.

I installed a stack so I can smoke in bad weather and not have snow or rain run in the damper hole, I also installed a watertight fitting in the side to run my thermometer cables through rather then the door. I also use a 9X9 cake pan for my chip box rather then the one that came with the rig. I just put aluminum foil over the top of the pan and poke a couple of holes in it, helps some with flare ups.

Besure to ask questions if you have any, lots of friendly, knowledgeable folks on here willin to help! Good luck with your new smoker and your first smoke!
