I just got back from Gander Mountain with a 24" Camp Chef Smoke Vault with the stainless steel front. They had it clearly priced at $250 which looked like a good buy. When she rang it up on the computer it came up at $180.

I don't have any idea how widely available this may be, I got mine on the west side of Columbus Oh.

It is still in the box so I cannot comment on quality or performance yet.

Wow, sounds like a good buy WullyBully! Congratulations and thanks for the heads up.

That's a very good deal. I paid about $100 more then that and that was the non stainless version.

Enjoy it!

Just bought a NEW SMV24S 24" Smoke Vault on Ebay for $156.99!  I contacted the shop selling them, because they had the specs down for the 18", but everything else advertised was for the 24".... They said that was an error (and it's been corrected), and it is indeed the 24" new model, and they were blowing them out.  Shipping is $39.99, and includes insurance. Usually I don't like to buy stuff over 100 bucks on Ebay, but the company has pretty good ratings, and it's insured and returnable for 14 days... so I'm taking the chance.

They had 3 left after I bought mine.. so if you're in for one of these units, they're basically half off, do a search on Ebay.

Well, based on your recommendations and that price I too just sent for one...they have 2 left and have not pulled the add yet...so..

thanks!!!!

I will head over to roll call and fill out the details, but I am new here, been reading for a few weeks wondering which type to buy/build so we will start here.

I bought the 18 from the same guy on eBay about 2 weeks ago for $176.98 total with shipping. That's the cheapest I've found them online for. The box it came in got beat up pretty bad during shipping, but the smoker looked fine. It was shipped pretty fast from him as well. Hope you guys enjoy your new Smoke Vault :)

Well mine came last night as well. Box was a bit beat, no DENTS!!!

Put it together with my son, my wife was actually excited, (she is never excited about my new purchases.....)

I was then opening up the door to take it out and "season it" for the first time as I was told to in the instructions when my wife quips, " hey, where do you think you are going" I replied outside to start up the smoker...she reminded me it was POURING rain...duh, I was so excited to fire it up I kinda neglected that thought...

so, tonight I will get it going.

now, what to smoke first....???

Oh, and thanks again for the tip, I really appreciate it, this smoker should work out well for me as I get started. I can always change gears later.

Glad you got yours today too, and you're welcome for the tip! No idea what you should smoke first, but do something you really like to treat yourself.  Wait, a little rain stopped you?

It's supposed to rain here ALL weekend...That's not gonna stop me!

(of course, I do have a roof over my back deck.

I haven't taken mine off the porch yet and opened it up, but the box is in great shape. I had to go into town (I live 45 minutes from the "big city") and do a bunch of errands (including buying $128 worth of wood chunks/chips and a few other toys to last me the winter

... our Home Depot has an entire isle of Brinkman smoking/grilling products and alot of stuff was 30-50% off!)  and just got home, so it's gonna have to wait until tomorrow night to get put together.

Good luck!

Little rain? deluge with lightening was more like it

good luck, I hope to do something this weekend, I have to fit it in with hunting and all the kids activities. Dang they keep me busy. but that is a good thing.

I can not thank you enough for the tip.

best of luck on your first smoke.

Later,

Eric.

I set myself up for that one... wanted to see if you took the bait. Like a 20 lb salmon... nice job.

After almost 3 months of no rain, and numerous wildfires and continuous smoke the last month, I am very excited for rain and cold this weekend, and creating a different kind of smoke.....I going to do a pork shoulder... and maybe a tri-tip or salmon. I have alot of frozen meat to get rid of.

Thanks to you also, and good luck to you as well!

Todd
