Ok i might totally be off my rocker here, or could be this wonderfull snow/rain/sleet/freezing rain/I have no clue what it's doing outside weather.

Now this would be a major mod but could be work. What if a guy was to get a small burner to put under the chip pan something just small enough to keep the chips hot enough to smoke then added 2 more burners to each side that you could use to control the temp in the box??? want more smoke kick up the center burner need more heat kick up the side burners, what do you guys and gals think??

gosm mods

my worst smoking experiences are in high wind...i get out of the wind in my vented unattached garage and i'm fine..smoking takes longer in the cold but wind is the worst variable..a windbreak should be ok unless its windy as hell....i smoke in low double digit temps...

lolol fred.........i smoke in single digits........BELOW zero........

once temps gets up, i have no problems with the meat taking longer........if i keep the smoker outta the wind........

there is THAT much room in a gosm for THREE buners?

wow.......must be bigger than i thought

hey sparky, I have a 1000 watt hot-plate in my ECB with lava rock covering it-and another off kiltered to boost heat when & if needed. ya great idea and works well also.

I've smoked in single digits with below zero wind chills, with the help of a wind block. But what got me thinking is when you crank up the heat you end up with more smoke and your chips burn up faster, but what if you wanted higher temps with less smoke or maybe low temps with alot of smoke?? I think there is enough room in there to the sides of the chip box for a short row burner like in a gas grill. Can't wait till garage sales, or the road side, might have to find me an old gas grill to operate on.
