another gas line problem

So i went to the local main bbq shop on the weekend to try and find if the gas smoker connection i bought from the US (im from australia) will be able to be converted etc to use for our type of connection for LPG here....

the guy gave me the funniest look when i showd him the type of gas connection i had, but as the line and fitting connections are smaller in than what we use here none of the line parts could be replaced. So he gave me a private contractors number as
he said with the correct tools you might be able to chop off the gas bottle fitting at the end of those hose and clamp on a normal aussie gas fitting as a replacement.

im still waiting on a response from the contractor - so fingers crossed for me coz if this doesnt work i dont know what will, i've already had one company email me back saying "
Apart from being illegal it also very dangerous. Unfortunately I have seen a number of American fittings which I have been unable to convert to our standard fittings."

i need to chop this US style gas connection off from the end of the gas hose - and clamp on a australian style gas bottle fitting connection.

any australians on here might kno if a gas repairer or some store theat could do this for me?

I would look for a barbed type insert that will fit inside the hose. Smear on some gas rated pipe dope and use a ring clamp.

Check on-line and see if you can find an adapter.... or if you can get a different regulator and fitting that will screw on to the hose....

I would think a propane(LPG) retailer would be able to do this. Or simply make a new hose with the right connectors for you to use.
Whne I worked for the gas company years ago, we used to make custom
hoses all the time.

i agree with richtee on this use a barb and a hose clamp if you feel that you need it crimped go to a tractor dealer or a machine shop that make their own hydralic hoses and they can do this while you wait.
