My wife wants smoked jerky but she doesnt think I can controll the temp well enough with my stick burner. The woman has no faith at all. Then she says wouldnt it be nice if we had an electric smoker for jerky. HELLO!!!

I was lookin in Cabelas catalog at the Bradley bisket smokers. They look like a good cooker but I cant remember anyone here at SMF talkin about them. Any ideas?? Sure dont want to wait till she changes her mind on this one.

When I was researching the electric smokers I considered the Bradley the one draw back for me was having to use their biscuits. I also looked at the Smokin tex and Cookshack brands. I chose the Smokin Tex I am very happy with it however if it makes a difference it is made in China. The cookshack is USA made. I settled on these two because they have in wall insulation on 5 sides the bottom is not . you also can use any chunks of wood that are small enough to fit the wood box. it only takes 1 to 3 ounces of wood for flavor it depends how much you like

Thanx kratz. Ill research these two and see what I come up with. Price may be the deciding factor.

I really like my GOSM GASSER for jerkey. With a few mods you can keep the temp down pretty low 140-150 and it is really good for fish also!!!!!!!!!
There is a post around with some pics of the mod from the regulator to the thermostat that reduces the flow of gas. I also have pics if ya need them.!!!!!!!Good luck on your decision!!!!!!!

If your looking for a more affordable unit, the Masterbuilts are a good unit. Lots of poeple on smf have them and seem to love them. Just a thought. Hell I use a little cheif and I do jerky in it all the time. So it all depends on how much you want to spend and how big of a unit you need. Just my two cents.
