Ordered a GOSM Big Block @ the end of December from Home Depot.
After reading about a lot of peoples bad luck with dents, scratches, etc... I was hoping I would have better luck.

Nope, mine arrived beat to *@#&. The door was bent, the racks were broken, and the cabinet was caved in on the back corner. Well, It's going back sometime this week (have to wait for the shipper)
Does anyone know if epod2000.com has better shipping?

Thanks,
Jay

Can you get it together at all to where you could use it? If you can make it work call them and tell them what happend and tell them you'll keep it if they give like a 50% refund or something. Might end up getting a good deal to keep it.

I ordered my GOSM from Walmart online and had it shipped to my local Walmart store...hence, no shipping charges. And one thing about Walmart, they have no problem taking items back. But I agree with Twistertail, if you call them and tell them its all banged up they may offer you a discount price...I know places like Bass Pro do that...Someone I work with actually got a new one sent to him free of charge, meanwhile he fixed the previous one up into working condition.

Sorry to hear your bad luck story. I also bought a big block from home depot, luckily it didn't have any dents, but it did have a broken rack due to the way they cram the parts within the cabinet. I called customer service (CFM) and they're sending me another rack, without any questions. Hope you can turn this one around in your favor.

I think I could fix it, but would probably knock the powdercoat off, as it's dented badly right on the seam of the rear, also the door wouldn't shut properly and seal. Walmart would be an option, but they don't have the real big block, and I've got my heart set on one. Oh well, somehow it'll work out......

epod2000.com has it with no sales tax, cheaper shipping, and $10 less price. Maybe, but I'll have to wait for my money back from Home Depot.

Later,
Jay

Mine came in dented pretty bad and the door hinges were broke off on the first one, I sent it back and they sent another one that was in pretty good shape a couple of small dings but nothing major, I can't remember for sure where I ordered mine I think it may have been Home Depot, anyway I was putting the 2nd oneI got together and a gust of wind came up just as I set the door on the hinges and broke the hinges off, not too bad though 8 self tapping bolts and a couple hinges from the hardware store andI was in business have had great luck with it otherwise.
Good Luck Travis

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I purchased both of my GOSMs from a locale Gander Mountain that had them in stock. No problems with damage at all. Hopefully all will work out for you. One thing for sure, though, in spite of the unfortunate delay, the wait will pay off in spades. The GOSM is a great product and very easy to use. Mine are 4 and 5 years old and still working as well as they did the day I took them out of the box.

Cheers,
Brian

that's sad to hear. Too bad they didn't make the propane ones as good as the charcoal ones. It would take a large ball peen hammer to put a dent in my GOSM.

No troubles yet. I currently do not have a GOSM, but was at my local Wally today and they are starting to stock their smokers again. I cannot wait to get the:

Model No. 3405BGW

A GOSM at only 146.00!!!

Porker, that link to epod2000 is showing the Big Block model. I'm glad I didn't get a smaller version, you can always use the extra room. ood luck my friend.

jeez...that just sucks man! I have a gosm and love it. Too cold up here in Canuck land to use outside but hey....I am just learning this sport and when you produce a great tasting rack a ribs that has eveyone fighting for more you'll be as proud as punch and will start making more frequent trips to the butcher. Good luck with your next purcahse...hope it all turns out for ya. BADSS

Porker,

My first Big Block arrived damaged from HD. The shipping company must drop them on their corner and they get banged up pretty bad. I called and complained (the day before Thanksgiving

) and they immediately shipped the replacement and knocked 10% off the price. The second GOSM arrived in great condition. If you're not in a hurry, you won't regret getting the extra room, drip pan and lower vents only found on this model.

I had mine stuffed full on New Year's weekend with 30 pounds of pork tenderloin and 23 pounds of yams! Now I'm getting hungry.

My advice...Buy one in a store and inspect it well. It took me 6 months of ordering & returning & waiting on replacents til I got an undamaged smoker.

I've had 5 smokers show up via UPS/FedEx that had the snot kicked out of 'em before I went to Wally-World and bought a GOSM 3405BGW that I could inspect IN the store.

#1 The stainless Cabella's model you're lookin at...Abused!
#2 A replacement unit from Cabela's...Beaten!
#3 A Smoke Vault...Destroyed!
#4 A replacement for the Smoke Vault...Whooped!
#5 A GOSM from WalMart that looked great til I got it home & noticed the bottom was kicked-in.
#6 a GOSM with COMPLETE in-store inspection...WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN-DINNER!!!

What a trip! I must of REALLLLLLLLY wanted to start smokin, cause I was losin' my mind!

I hope your luck is better!

Wow reading all these post makes me think not to order anything from HD. Bought mine at a neighborhood store with no problems at all. Only when I got it home to put it together did I have a hicup. Putting it together I had to install the temp gauage in the door. Well it sliped out of my hands and hit the pavement and broke one of the pins

. Called customer service and had a new gauge in a few days.

I got mine at wally world and had no problem either. I only use the temp gauge that came with it for cosmetic cause they suck but I have a few digital thermos to make up for it. I have never found one to be accurate that come with the smokers as of yet. Maybe my bad luck. Anyway the digitals are nice and I like the remote features!!!!!!!!!!!!
