Just signed up here, been lurking for awhile, and have found some great info, so I figured I would join up. My name is Trav, I guess you could say I'm fairly new to smoking meats, I've done jerky and sausage before, but I'm now looking to do more. I have a home made smoker, which is 6' x 6' x 7'. I made it this big so I can do large batches of sausage and jerky, and cause the guy I learned from had one similar in size. I also recently purchased a grinder (no. 32) and a meat mixer to make things easier for myself. Anyways, off to surf some more, so a big HELLO to everyone here, and I look forward to learning more from everyone here. Peace.

BTW... A really great site you've got going here, keep up the good work!!!

Welcome to SMF, Trav! You've found the right place for info and help on sausages and jerky and any other smokin' questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions cuz folks here are willing to help. Glad to have you with us.

Hi Trav, and welcome to the SMF. Looks like you are ready to rock & roll your smoke world. That's a good thing!

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you have all the necessary equipment to smoke up a storm. This is the place to learn the ins and outs and lots of little secrets. Looking forward to hearing about your smoking experiences and seeing lots of Q-view.

Welcome to SMF. I know you will enjoy yourself. When you have a few minutes, take a look at Jeff's 5 Day eCourse on Smoking Basics. You may already know most of this, but it is a handy refresher.

I couldn't tell from the sound of things("off to surf some more), if you were talking about surfing the internet or the salty stuff. Take a minute and tell us a little more about your brand of smoker, where you live and that sort of thing. It helps us get to know you.

Once again, glad to have you and look forward to your posts.
