Well I read somewhere on here it is tradition to say hello here.... so after a few posts, and LOTS of reading, I'm saying hello... :D

I'm a newbie to smoking, I'm currently using a smoker that my Mom gave me. I think she said she found it in the garage when she moved into her house... anyway it's basically and ECB but it's called a Mr. Smoker... lol I'm hoping to upgrade to a horizontal Char Griller after Christmas, if my better half gets all the hints I've been dropping... I started smoking on an ECB my Dad let me borrow, that has seen better days, it's been caught by the wind one too many times, but it still will works... kinda... I still have that ECB but I use the Mr Smoker because it has a hole in the charcoal pan and it burns better, and is easier to regulate the heat. I've only done about a half dozen smokes now, some better than others, but every single time I do it, the food is GONE, and everyone raves about it... lol I'm looking to just upgrade the smoker to get more consistant results...

Anyway I've read TONS on here that has helped me out a lot! Mostly about the thin blue smoke, and how to build the fire in the ECB. I forget the name of the method, but placing a few lit coals from a chimney on top of unlit coals works awesome! I've also been following the "Mustard" thread, since I tried that once, and didn't care for the bark I got out of it..

But I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all the help!

Keep smokin!

Welcome, RR! If you been reading on the forum you already know what a friendly bunch of folks hang out here. I'm pretty new to smoking too, but the enthusiasm, information and help that you can pick up at SMF are already getting me in trouble for wanting to smoke "too much".

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Chances are someone around here knows the answer. Glad to have you with us.

Welcome Ram from a Cyclone fan in Huxley, Iowa. As you already know there is a vast amount of knowledge on this forum. If you aren't sure about something just ask. I am also a newbie and in the last 3 or 4 weeks have probably increased my smokin knowledge 10 fold just from reading and asking questions.
Have fun.

Welcome RR -

Every smoke gets better than the one before! The minion method works great in the ECB and many other smokers. I'm guessing if you've been hanging around for a few weeks you already read Jeffs smoking PDFs, signed up for the new letter etc.? Well then go out and smoke something!
