well since i cant get onlne all the much any more, i have had a lot of free time... time to build a new toy

there will be two cooking chambers, of course a firebox and will be put onto an old boat trailer - most everything will be from the recycler. my welding sucks but it will hold together

heres what the 2 cooking chambers started out as:

lawnroller - approx. 50 gallon

pressurized water tank - approx. 100 gallons

doors cut and starting to look like a smoker

updates to come soon

good to be back home...

and when the time comes i need another hand i will for sure call you...lol

i am looking for a small cheap boat trailer to put my smoker on though

i am trying to convince my bro in law that he needs to help me... told him free Q for life if he comes up with a cutting torch and strong back..lol

Teacup -

I think that's a pretty kewl idea! A lawn roller - go figure? Who needs a falt lawn anyway?

Good job keep going - we're missing you but it'll be worth it!

just a small update....

got hinges fabricated and welded onto main cooker

braces for handle fabricated and welded onto main cooker

should have internet hooked up this week, so i will be back with more updates and more regular postings...

That looks like a killer project, Ive built quite a few smoker pits, and what you'll run into is ways to build the ultimate smoker, good is never good enough. When you build one its like a drug habbit, you'll want to do another, and another, and another. It is an addictive and expensive habbit.

another small update... it is 25degrees outside and i have no heat in my shop outback until monday(getting a woodstove)...brrrrrrrrrr

pics shot with a crappy camera but you can still see it

cut hole in cooker and modified the smoke stack to fit properly...

will be reverse flow

cost so far

main cooker = $10(tank was free, delivery was 10)
secondary cooker = $5
weber lid-cooking grates
for secondary-smoke stack = $5
steel pipe(hinges) = $1.50
hinges & hinge bolts
(secondary cooker) = $2.50
welding rods(so far..lol) = $15
cutting wheels = $15
grinder = $15
misc. stuff = $10
hobby welder (for tacking
everything together temporaily) = free (donation from relative)
welding helmet = free (traded mother n law for ribs
when smoker is done)
TOTAL = $79 (not bad at all)

even if it is a reverse flow set up? if i have to extend it to grate level, i have to find another piece of square tubing(woohoo, another trip to the recycler...lol

)

if i have to extend it to much, it might get in the way of my secondary cooking rack plans(everything is adjustable, no set plans on this project, just what happens,happens....everything is done by eye)

Same theory as an off-set, smoke and heat will shoot right to the top and exit without ever hitting the meat, will be harder to control temps also!

yah she went to some sale and saw a dollar on it so she bought thinking that someone might be able to use it...

thanks for the advice steve never thought of it that way

, gotta revamp the smoke stack, i welded four pieces of angle iron on the pipe at the top of the hole to keep it in place, going to need to weld an extension onto the pipe
