Good morning yall. I am going to smoke a couple of chickens and brisket this weekend. I am going to use my own personal BBQ rub on one of the chickens, and use lemon pepper on the other. Both of them are going to have a beer can in their butt. I do not know what to use for rub on the brisket. Can yall give me some suggestions on what to season the brisket with?

Thanks

For brisket I prefer not to use much or any sugar. Here's one that I use a lot:

Adjust measurements as needed

2 Tablespoons kosher salt
2 teaspoons black pepper - course or ground
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon granulatated garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

You can add oregano, rosemary, or other preference as desired to change out the taste a little.

This is one that I like to use:

Texas Smoked Brisket Rub
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cumin
  • 1 Tbsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 Tsp ground coriander
  • 2 Tsp oregano
Mix the spices, salt and sugar well
Rub the mixture onto the brisket.
Plastic wrap it and let it rest in the fridge overnight or at least a couple of hours.
