Hi all just thought I'd let you know my Smoke Vault had a melt down. I think I know why they changed the burner from 35000 BTUs to 20000 BTUs Mine melted Sunday night.

At first I though some tin foil fell on the burner and was melting, soot everywhere! I didn't look at it yesterday because Gypsy and Cowgirl kept me up s late Sunday

I fell asleep in my chair when I got home from work and it was to dark when I woke up to play with it.

Anyway I looked at it when I got home tonight and the burner was melted! I'll post some pictures. So I called the Camp Chef folks expecting to get a bunch of crap and at is 7 months old so I didn't know what they'd say. A very nice lady answered and asked when I bought it, I told her April and she typed some stuff in her computer and told me my address and zipcode ... hmmmm and said she wanted one. I told her to get the 24" not the 18" and she said they'd have me a new burner in a week! That's so kewl!

I gave her the address to my website and told her to click the link at the bottom to come here if she really wanted to learn about smoking food. I also asked if this is why they changed the burner from 35K to 20K and she said probably. It probably gets to hot and that's why it melted.

What a nice company! I must have filled out their online registration at some point and they had everything there and they're amiling me out the new burner free after almost daliy use for nearly 7 months!

I love my Camp Chef Smoke Vault and my Camp Chef cast Irons pans but NOW I love the Camp Chef company and their customer service lady!

Sorry to hear about your "trauma", but it's nice to know that the company is treating you right. Hope you have your smoker up and running soon.

Great customer service you got. It's great when a company stands behind their product. Glad you didn't catch anything else on fire or worse.

Thinking back it seems to me that in about the last year I've been hearing about several companies who are giving good customer service and standing behind their products. Maybe it's a long awaited return of pride in workmanship that has been missing from the market for many years.

You know if you look at those pictures just right you can see a hand. Maybe you sell it on Ebay for half a fortune to some casino who needs a tax write off... Art even.

Hey Debi, Joe is right, coulda burnt your house down.

I'm glad you got a nice lady on the phone, and see, her goodness came right back to her, with your help to her.

It is good to see that they stand behind their product. That says a lot about the company. I've always heard, good things happen to good people

Gee it kind of looks like an elephant to me!

Actually because I had twon smokers going I was right there it just took awhile for me to figure out what was going on. At firs I thought the tin foil caught fire and fell on the burner.

I saw the elephant too. And the starfish or squid.. and the little creature hiding in the dark under it.

You may be right there Flash!
I did lower the wood pan as suggested by someone to right on the hole, maybe to close to the flames and it blew them back onto the burner.

eBay here I come! Anybody know how to sell stuff on eBay?

Thank God I have two more smokers! Whew!

If you look close enough you can see the angle wing too... getting closer to that grilled cheese every minute

The Camp Chef folks are in a class by themselves. When I used to run Dutch Oven cook-offs I'd give them a call and ask for donations in the way of prizes. The gal at Customer Service would ask me how many teams I had signed up and how many judges did I have; I would then receive Camp Chef aprons for the teams and aprons for the judges (different color of course) and more stuff in the way of prizes than I could ever dream off. Folks there treated me real good. Look forward to there Summer Social every year and them folks know how to put on one heck of a feed too!!

Hey Debi:

Glad they are taking care of you. With all the free advertising you give their smoker they had better be, lol.

I bet ya lowering the wood tray had something to do with it. When you had mentioned it to me that it gave you a better smoke ring I was heistant to try it for just this reason. Glad no one was hurt.
