First real Fatty

Before joining this awsome forum I had never heard of a "fatty". Litterally 2 weeks before joining I had made some homemade sausage. I wanted a little smoke flavoring so I put the roll on my gas grill with some wood chips for about an hour. Then sliced it and fried it in a pan. Wasn't too bad.

NOW that I know what it's called and how to actually make them I gave it a try yesterday. Wow, those things are awesome.

I first tried to use my homemade sausage but couldn't get it to roll properly and it just fell apart.

Then I got a jimmy dean hot sausage roll and put cheddar/chipotle cheese sticks in it. This turned out alot better then using the fresh sausage.

Sorry the last photo is a little blurry. After watching the Redskins kick butt and 3 hrs of smoking....... alot of bud lights were consumed.lol

I want to thank everyone that has posted about Fatty's. I've learned that you can put almost anything into them.

Next one is will be with mozzarella cheese and some marinara sauce in it....my lovely wife just came up with that idea.

Ahhhhhhhh the fatty! Gotta love those things! I love the hot - not so much the others. There's so much you can do with them.

I make breakfast rolls for work with sausage, cheese onions and pepers or cresent rools shreaded apples and cinnamin - the guys love em!

Debi those look really...really gooooood. I've got a fattie on the smoker now with just shredded cheddar in it. Do I need to spray it when I spray the pork butt or do you spray fatties?
