Bark on wood

I'm new at smoking so I've been reading about woods. Some articles said not to burn wood with bark. My son-in-law is pruning his apple tree and is giving me branch pieces with the bark. I don't want to be carving bark off all this stuff. Any harm in using it for smoke?
 
There was a discussion somewhere on this a while back. I think the consensus was no harm. *I* leave the bark on. By the time the wood hits the smoker, it's about burnt off anyway. I start my wood with propane before tossing into the pit. Sometimes I toss a chunk or two in "raw" tho, and have noticed no diff.
