My names Roger and live down here in South Louisiana. Been smokin' meat for about as long as I can remember. Love to cook. I've got grandkids that like to help out so that helps me keep the smoker goin'. Also keeps Maw-Maw off my a$$ when its time to buy the meat.

Great site here hope to have lots of fun with ya'll.

Just have to relate one story in my smoking career. Several years ago before Christmas my wife asked my granddaughter what she wanted for Christmas. She thought for a minute and said, I want Paw-Paw to smoke me a brisket. My eyes lit up and all I could do was just smile.

Well, everybody knows a brisket is an all night affair. So Christmas Eve while everybody getting together and having fun, I'm firing up the smoker getting ready for an all nighter.

Well 4:00 pm Christmas Day the brisket comes out of the smoker @ 190 and goes into the ice chest for an hour or so. It turned out pretty good, I've done better and worse.

But the moral of this srory is, thank God for grandkids. Treasure them while your here. Spoil 'em then send them home to their parents.

welcome Roger, glad ya found us. This is a great place to be.

can't beat that kinda story ... will be glad when my kid is old enough for grandkids .. so we can 'spoil em and send em home' .. like his grandma's do to us now ...

That tugs at my heart strings bro, that is what being a grand parent is all about! I can relate, we have 12 of the little rascals, Christmas is a very busy time!

There's something about the word's, "Pop Pop, you are the best cooker!", rolling from the mouth of a 2 1/2 year old while she's chomping down on one of your ribs...
