Here is my Saturday plan for my first pulled pork:
Have a beer
Slather my butt w/ yellow mustard and Jeffs rub
Have a beer
Smoke my butt w/ apple wood till it 160ish and wrap w/ foil till 200
Have beers
Pull from smoker wrap w/ towel and put in cooler (ice chest) for 1-2 hrs.
Have beers
Pull and apply florida jeffs finishing sauce
Serve w/ a jack and coke and Jeffs bbq warm on the side
I think I have it.
Any suggestions to my Saturday plans?
I like apple wood but is this what I want to use for pulled pork?

I have one suggestion...

Liquor before beer, your in the clear
Beer before liquir, never sicker.

Other than that, it sounds like a plan!

Apple is awesome on pulled pork!

no beer run needed. I have a fresh 30pack of bud in the fridge. i will put the mustard on the pork butt. The wife already looks at me funny and i do not want to scare the kids. All bets are off if i finish the 30pack.

ok seriously now, I love jeffs rub on ribs but I have not used on anything else and I have never done pulled pork before so is the rub good to use and spray it w/ apple juice every hour or so like i do ribs?

I used Jeffs rub on all meat! I use the sauce on most everything. I even add it to my lemon juice and olive oil for a real zesty Italian dressing!

That rub is good on anything I use it all the time. Rub it up and have the apple juice ready.

The direction you initially indicated should produce some fine pulled pork. Jeff's finishing sauce really adds great flavor to the pork. Just one other observation ..... it's all a matter of personal preference and what works for you but I also like to use cherry or my old favorite hickory wood for smoking pork. You might want to give it a try. Enjoy!

done. came out wonderful. no pix. i do not need the razzing from the wife about being a dork. even thou her hobbie is scrapbooking which is all pix. anyway, I did as above smoked at 235ish over apple. when i wrapped in foil i sprayed the butt w/ a LOT of apple juice which i kept the foil dripping and poured into the pulled pork. i did not have the nerve to pour the finish sauce into the meat. I put it on the table and we added as we wanted along w/ the q sauce. The wife and i liked it. next time i will add the finish sauce. the finishing sauce recipe made much more than i think my 4lbs butt could handle. next time i will add 1/2 the amount and give a true try. I will probably use hickory next time since the apple is such a light flavor that we did not really taste the smoke but the meat was wonderful. it seemed easier and less work than the ribs that i have been doing. It does keep you home all day. got a lot of yard work done between adding wood and spritzing the meat.
