i got one of those forks with the thermo built in. what i can i use it for? i will not stick a fork in brisket or pork, except when slicing. i want to be able to smoke something that i could use it for, so that when the person (a very good friend) that bought it for me can see me using it when she visits (which is alot) when i am smoking.

i just thought of it. fattys.

Meatloaf, chicken maybe, and of course your fattys. Or just for show check an ABT???

Got 1 myself a couple years ago, still have never used it, i do not poke or prod my meat either but it might work on a fatty, just remember, the more you poke, the drier it is

I have one too, they (atleat mine) is not accurate at all.
I'd just pull it out put it on the outside of the meat for show. Then use your regular them. If she says anything tell her you wanted to check the accuracy of the instant read

She might fall for it

Hey Chris, if she is a good friend, tell her what the problem is. If not, use it to check veggies or the point of a brisket(plenty of juice there/fat)

Or use it to see if the dog/cat is "ovulating".

Man, would that be funny as hell!

I use to keep my fork thermometer in the kitchen trash can until my son took the trash out. I just never took a liking to it. My Mother-In-Law gave it to me.

Heh, that's about all they're good for.

Chris, with the checking the accuracy, you could always flip it around and tell your friend you're checking the other thermos accuracy with the fork.

i forgot to put in my originl post that it was a birthday gift. she also got me one of those butane lighters that looks like a giant match. then her mom got me a two pack of telescoping forks. but everything else i got i really like- an apron that has "master of the grill" on it; a bag of wood chips (mesquite, chardonney, and apple); and some stuff not related to smoking meat.

lol, chad. that is a good one. but i think i will just use it for fattys, and hot dogs- to pull them off the smoker.
