Baby It's Cold Outside

Before ending summer and going into winter a smoked twelve slabs of ribs, vacuum packed them and threw them in the freezer for those cold days I would'nt be able to smoke. Glad I did...it's been a long, cold, snowy winter here in Denver.

Now I have a hankering for those slow smoked delicious ribs. Anyone have some advice on bringing these babies back to life? Microwave, oven, thaw, no thaw, warm in freezer bag, remove and wrap in foil...what's the best way?

The best way I have found is to slowly warm them up in the oven wrapped in foil. This is the same method I use for my chicken halves. Since you vacuum packed them though I think if you had something big enough to boil water in and the ribs would fit still vac-sealed it would work as well.

Out of your choices, the only thing I would for sure not do is microwave them. Let us know what ya do with them gozz.

After the oven if you can I would place them on the gas grill (if available) just to crisp them up a bit more.

Don't listen to them....

The best way to do that, is to send them to me... I will take real good care of them for you.....wink.gif

I agree. Wrap in foil, and place in oven and warm them up slowly. Or, in a gas grill if it is warm enough to get outside without having to shovel your way to the grill.

Remember, slow.... or you will most likely dry them out.

Thanks, I agree the microwave is for heating soup. I was afraid it might change the texture.

I'm gonna do the foil oven thing. I'm kinda playing around with this, because I'd like to give my closest friends some BBq to take home or as gifts around the holidays.PDT_Armataz_01_34.gif

Re-heating Ribs


Just pretend yor smoking them again. Wrap them in foil and heat them at 225-250 until warm enough to eat.

Microwaves are great for steaming veggies, pre cookig baked potaoes, even bacon but not real meat!
