I found this on the VS website. Sounds like some variation of "The Iron Chef" or one of the other head-to-head cookoff shows, but its BBQ.

Quote from the website:

Presented by Kingsford Charcoal, this competitive bracket-series tournament features the worldâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s top BBQ chefs vying for $100,000 in prize money – the biggest in ‘cue history. The meats have been marinated; the cookers fired and stoked. Watch as the best pit men in the country line up ready to do battle, apron to apron. But before they can take home the prize, they must face the gamut of judges – the Taste Makers and Breakers – with a celebrity judge or two to spice things up. The torturous scrutiny begins this fall on Versus. Viewers will have an eye-opening experience as they witness survival in the BBQ pits.

I'd love to watch this, but I don't get the channel. Its available to DishNetwork customers with the Top 180 package or higher. Its available on DirecTV in their basic package.

I have caught it a couple times Pyre. The judges were pretty sad. Didn't really seem to know much about what they were judging really. All in all it's a neat series in my book.

You know... this kind of show would have to be edited all to heck. In the iron chef its a 1 hour show and the cooks have 1 hour. So they go go GO!

In a BBQ cookoff, I doubt they would establish time limits. So it might be 12 hours or more!

Boo to bad judges. I wonder why they don't have some qualified BBQ judges?

I have seen it a few times and IMO, the time requirements they put the contestants under does not allow for proper low and slow cooking. The competitor results reflect not having enough time to properly rest the meat or even cook it IMO. They are forced to rush things to meet deadline and the results are also rushed.
