FYI everyone,

Before I ordered my big block from Home Depot, I searched for one made on stainless. I heard of the models previously sold at Sam's Club. CFM said they discontinued them in 2004. They were double walled and stainless. Well after searching, talking to a rep for CFM (not the customer help line...corporate) I found out the following:

Great Outdoors has introduced a stainless model for 2006.

The model number is A 032142.

I do not know if it is double walled or not.

In the USA, it is sold by Bass Pro shops.

In Canada, you can buy it at Costco..but only in Canada.

Unfortunately, Bass Pro Shops does not know they sell it....at least the 3 that I tried. Atlanta, Ga...Myrtle Beach, SC and one in North Carolina.

It has to be ordered via Bass Pro Shops home office. (per the CFM rep)

The CFM rep did say some stores may be stocking it. I would assume they would be more northern stores.

So if anyone wants stainless, it does exist if you can hunt it down.

As much as I would love a stainless steel GOSM, I think that I would have a hard sell trying to convince the Bride that I REALLY need it- but it would look at home next to my stainless steel grill!

I was lucky enough to have stumbled across one of the double walled stainless steel GOSMs. Acutally my wife found it and knew that I really wanted one and insisted that I accept it as a Christmas present last year. I protested for about a half second (acutally a good bit longer) and the went ahead and purchased the unit at Sam's. As it turned out, it's probably one of the best purchases I have made in the "Q" area. It is very efficient, easy to use and absolutely attractive to look at. I can't get over the coolness of the outside compared to other smokers. It holds heat so well. Anyway, bottom line..... I hate to hear that that they have discontinued the double walled stainless steel. I think it is a winner and encourage anyone who has a shot at one (perhaps at a garage sale or whatever) to seriously consider it. I really love mine.
