Hello, new here but have read a ton of good stuff already. I just started dabble in making beef jerky and made a slight error in adding hot peppers.

The recipe was simple but I failed to look up anything before I added my hot peppers. I had received a jerky ground beef gun and was just a little excited over wanting to use it. Luckily it was only one pound.

I ended up adding about a 1/3rd cup of Carolina Reapers dried and crushed to my 1pd ground beef mix. Me personally I can handle the heat of one stick but not two. I started to look at recipes and and noticed the norm was about a tablespoons worth for about 2-3 pounds. Is that about right or with the pepper being so hot should I use less?

I do have a secondary plan as we have a guy at work who takes bits and pieces of others lunches or food left for the next day. I know he will take one and will be quite the surprise when he eats one..
