Hi everyone, I just registered hoping to get some opinions on a smoker I have had my eye on for a while. I have been using a mini-WSM for a few years with some good-to-great results, mainly for turkey, but also salmon. Anyway, I think I'm ready to step up to something bigger and better.

I apologize in advance if this smoker has been talked about endlessly on this forum.... I'm sure it has, but based on the Google-level research I've done so far, the discussion is based on the regular Dyna-glo model. There's an upgraded, "heavy duty" model called the signature series that I am interested in:

Does anyone have experience with this model? Looks like a decent unit for the price. I am sure I'll have to use some heat tape and/or high temp sealant to make it a little more leak-proof, which isn't really a problem. I originally had my eye on horizontal offsets but I'd have to spend around 1,000 (at minimum) to get a decent one of those. Verticals seem to fix the problem that horizontals have, where smoke and heat naturally go upwards instead of sideways.

Is there anything better in this price range than the one I am looking at?

Opinions welcome. Thanks everyone.

I don't have any experience with horizontal offsets, but lots of folks here use them.  The link above didn't work, but I went to the HD site and saw the DG Heavy Duty Signature series you referenced.  It gets good reviews, with two sized models ranging from $306 to $436.  I think you'd be happy with either one.

For the money and ease of use, the 18.5" and 22.5" WSMs are in the same ballpark, with the 22.5" WSM giving about the same cooking area as the 36" DG.

Decisions, decisions.  If you buy any of the above models, you'll have definitely achieved an upgrade.
