Good afternoon, I've been reading this forum for a few months now and decided to join. I live in SE Wisconsin, and started to smoke a few months ago after tasting some ribs my brother made, thought I would give it a try.

I started with a 22" Weber kettle and had good results with some back ribs and also tried beef jerky. A few weeks ago I purchased a WSM 18" and have smoked ribs and jerky on it, always a learning process.

I am retired and have plenty of time to learn this new 'hobby'.

Joe, welcome to SMF!  Glad you are here with your Weber lineup and making mouths water.  If you intend to grill and smoke through the winter, which a lot of folks do in your neck of the woods, Lowes and Home Depot will have their last big sale on charcoal Labor Day weekend.  Stock up on Royal Oak Ridge briquettes for long smokes, Kingsford Original for short ones.  Either one will cost about 26 cents a pound when on sale.

Enjoy the forum!

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a cloudy, cool and rainy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.

Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
