I have some access to some UBER cheapo restaurant equipment via an auction.

Pretty sure I will be able to get these items for literally a few cents if not a dollar or two.

I was thinking of taking the small fridge and turning into a firebox and then taking the fridge and converting it into a verticle smoker and attaching the two together to make a vertical offset.
I know I might have to gut it, and make some mods, but my goal is to see if I could use the SHELL of these items to start to fabricate a smoker vs starting from steel and framing it up.

Assuming it will all need work and a fabricator or help, do you think this is possible?

Or should I just keep the stuff and sell it back on ebay/craigslist/letgo etc..

Small under counter fridge to be used as a possible firebox.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Im not a expert but I wouldn't use the small fridge for a firebox first you have rubber seals and plastic trim along with spray foam insulation that is for  keeping cold and not for the temps of a fire  but that's just my opinion   someone will be along to share more info shortly        but if the small cooler still works it is great for keeping for extra room for all your bbq prep

But most of that probably could be taken off.
Hopefully someone could answer if I can gut it and mod it to fit my needs.
I really just want to use the steel/frame work of the actual fridge.

Maybe should of been more clear, could I use the SHELL of these to start to fabricate a smoker?

Thanks again for your quick response.

The auction has 3-4 of these and no one is bidding on em so I am definitely going to keep a couple for prep food for sure!

Thanks for your tips!

alot will depend on the heat source also   are you using a wood fire or charcoal    those will be a lot hotter than a electric element

the framing  of the cooler is made of 2 pieces of  very thin metal with foam in the middle and wouldnt stand up to a real fire

but like i said thats just my 2 cents

With enough patience and perseverance, and if you have the resources to do the work yourself, anything is possible. But only you can answer for yourself it is worth it. I think you can get more out of them if they still work! Then go buy a SS smoker like a Smokin it. If you were closer I might take them off your hands for you. I have been keeping an eye out for a curing/aging chamber just like that!

Thanks! I wouldn't do the work myself would have a buddy fabricate but I thought since people turn fridges into a smoker why not these! LOL
I saw online these bad boys are worth over $3k so I might have to hang on to them!

Appreciate your 2 cents always! I haven't seen them but I thought they would of been a little thicker but once I get them I will know for sure.
Sounds like keep or turn into curing units!

Thanks again guys!

I would definitely consider putting a pellet hopper assembly on the big one. The ones from Smoke Daddy are about $425, but you would have an ass kicking smoker for about $500 and a little time if you get the unit for cheap.
