So my boss gave me a bunch of cherry wood is that right for smoking meat it wasn't a cherry tree if that makes any sense I feel like I am a babbling idiot lol

If you could, post some pictures of the cherry wood.  I don't think I quite understand what you mean by it didn't come from a cherry tree. I'm wondering if it was cherry wood that was going to be used for wood projects.  I think that as long as it hasn't been treated with anything you should be fine if you choose to use it for smoking.  Again, I would post some pictures just so we can take a look at it.

Not trying to be belligerent, but I've never seen any cherry wood that didn't come from a cherry tree.

Will be watching and waiting.

I'm with Joe B,I don't think you babbled to much better to ask then assume.Thumbs Up

I'm guessing you're talking he gave you dimension lumber or trim pieces of cherry wood. As someone else said if it has not been treated with anything it should be ok. I've had opportunity to buy hickory wood in the dimension lumber form like baseboard and other trim pieces that were untreated and I always passed on them. They will burn very quickly in a offset and cause a temp spike.
