Im looking to do a 500 gallon smoker and i want a big smome stack i have a 12 inch diameter pipe the calculator has me needing a really short smoke stack. Will 12 inch pipe about 3.5 feet long be over kill??

I'm not to sure, it will change the the amount of air draw. I have no clue as to what it would do, sorry no help here. Some one will be along with so good info.  Good luck on your build and post us up some pics can't wait to see some smoke rolling out of it

yes it is over kill.

It won't work well.

If you really have a hard on for a large diameter stack use an 8" inside of it and the 12" as decoration.

I just collected another 500 gallon today and have my slaves building a firebox for it at the moment.

Will post pics next week.
