Well my smoke hollow digital smoker stopped working, luckily I bought it at sams with their satisfactions guarantee and  I was able to get a full refund...As I was looking to buy something different I came across the camp chef pg24 SE at Walmart on clearance for 249.00 and I bought it.  Not sure f I will keep it since I have no experience using pellet grills  and not sure on the quality of the unit. What do you think? should I keep it or sell it to my sister (same price I purchased it for) and buy something different. Please help never seen a pellet grill for under 250... and it seems to have ok reviews.

Give it a try and see if you like it. If your sister would buy it, that's a fallback option. If you like it, you could show her how to run one and she might get her own.

One way or another, the time is near for all summer stuff to start going on sale.

Thanks for your help. Two more questions... 1- do you think I can get a better pellet smoker than the PS24se for 249? Where. And 2) is this a good smoker?

I have the camp chef STX and I absolutely love it.  I use a tube in mine frequently, as pellet grills all burn pellets very efficiently for heat, so there is less of a smoke flavor unless you use the high or low smoke setting, or supplement with another smoke source in the grill.  I'm completely happy with mine, after having cooked on charcoal for almost 20 years.  The clean out feature for the ash pot makes it very convenient to get it shut down quickly when you're done, and was first implemented by camp chef, which shows they are improving their products.  When I was first looking into mine, I'd read other posts here that stated the digital read out controller was on sale back in June for 35 plus 5 dollars shipping, and the probe temps are fairly accurate.  That would upgrade to the STX model, I believe the posters suggested calling their customer service to inquire about it.  If you plan to use external thermometers, it's probably unnecessary though.  I've cooked whole chickens, beef and pork ribs, fatties, loins, whole pork shoulders, whole turkey and chicken breasts, burgers, sausage, and more and everything has been great, thanks to the members advice here.

I've smoked all that....but what you mean "fattie"? Something else comes to my mind....

Nothin better than rolling up a fatty and Smokin it....

Check out the fatty subsection for all you could ever want to know about ground meat rolled up and wrapped in bacon.

well, I fired up the pellet smoker and smoked a couple of pork putts at the same time. between 9-10 lbs each using the rub from Rudys bbq. They came out pretty good and the process was soooo easy. next i'll try a brisket in a couple of weeks.  One questions that I hope someone can help.  Iike I mentioned before I got the pg24 se for 249.00 seemed like a decent deal although I keep seeing people buying the for 100.00 REALLY!!! Now the question do you think  I can buy something better for 250. (pellet grill). One of the others I was looking at was the PIT Boss just not sure how good the searing option works.
