I live in Edmond, Oklahoma. Just started smoking meat a couple weeks ago. My dad, who is a pit master, has been trying to get a smoker to me for a couple years now. When I went to get it, finally, it was a char broil cheapie. I had turned down a free offset smoker that was 1/4 inch thick and heavy duty, from a customer of mine. I thought, surely the one my dad was giving me was going to be really nice. Oh well, I'm smoking a couple slabs of ribs today. We'll see how it works out. Did a 10 lb pork butt last week, that turned out nice.

Welcome! Got into smoking while living in Norman while my wife went to OU. Keep your fire clean and smoke thin and blue, and it doesn't matter what you're smoking on. Look forward to seeing some of your smokes....

Welcome from SC. It's really good to have you here on this great site. It sounds like you're getting some good cooks under your belt. Remember two things: 1. It's not the cooker, it's the cook. 2. You can always eat your mistakes.

Good luck and good smoking, Joe. :grilling_smilie:
