Just curious - could you just smoke the water and then make ice cubes?
No its better to smoke the frozen ice cubes. The reason is the cubes are 4 sided when they are frozen so they pick up more smoke while they are melting vs just water in a pan.

When the ice cubes melt simply re freeze them in a ice cube tray and your done. They are fantastic with whiskey, bourbon and in soups and stews. enjoy!

Great idea and definitely will have to try it out. Very innovative.

Thank you I enjoy them.

The trick is with these when you put a smoked ice cube in your bourbon is to let its sit just about 3 minutes minutes give or take...  to get just a little melt then drink before sipping on the bourbon. Then drink rest of your bourbon at a steady pace so as not to get to much melt in you glass or it may get to smoky for some folks.

What temp did you smoke at and for how long?
Temp is not overly important. Hot enough to melt them unless your on a time crunch then pour the heat and smoke to them. Ive melted a batch while smoking cheese to help keep my cheese cool at 70 degrees.

or you can melt them at 150 degrees + or -.

I pour the smoke to them. It usually takes a couple hours or so give or take based on what temp your using.

Thanks for the tips!  Smoked a batch of ice yesterday and they came out nicely.  Intense!  Going to try a cube or two with some bourbon tonight

wow, thank you!!!! im a single malt guy. gonna do this today as soon as i get home. how kool, or should i say cool. lol

Tried a couple smoked cubes with some bourbon the other night.  Pretty interesting drink.  Definitely intense and smokier the more the cubes melted.  Not amazingly good or bad, but different for sure.  Will have to re-test for accurate results

well i tried it..... one cube in two fingers of 18 yr old spey single malt  and one in 12 yr old glenfiddich. was to much in the 18 as its a smoother sweet scotch, not bad in the 12. i can see how it would fix/cover for a blended. next test will be in jameson beer cask whiskey. if you have not tried the newer jameson you should. its a well made whiskey. hopefully with a cube of smoked ice
