For the first time, I am grilling Tri-Tip steaks on a propane grill.

To add to my adventure, I am using Feijoa wood chips as a smoke pouch for flavor.  Approx 1" chips.

These chips have been soaking in Corona beer, hopefully to get a more robust flavor for steaks, instead of just being a fruity smoke, which is what I hear about this wood.

I'm rubbing the steaks with a "Santa Maria Rub" recipe, which is highly recommended.  We shall see.

So, I will report back to you the results, in case you may want to use this wood too.

Crossing my fingers this combination works!

Okay, It's done.  Fed 5 people, the results were really good.

Of course I have reservations, but all in all, it was great.  Cherry pie and ice cream for dessert.

Trust the wood, it was gentle and sweet.
