Hey everyone just sharing my first attempt at brisket cook is currently under way its a 14 pound brisket I got at Costco,  I trimmed it last night, got up real early started my fire and seasoned it with half salt half pepper, threw it on at about 6 am, kind of nervous but really excited, in my rush to get it on the smoker this morning I don't have any pics of after I trimmed and seasoned it I'll remember next time lol.

I'm in a similar boat. Not my first, I have done a small one before. Put an 11 pounder on at about 8 this morning. A little over 7 hours in and the flat is sitting at 175. What temp are you smoking at?

Thank you! I was very pleased with the first attempt at brisket , I built the smoker from scratch and it definitely justifies all the hard work :) I am completely addicted to bbq lol
 
I have a thread that I started awhile back, in the offset smoker section, the title is, 24 inch offset smoker, i have pics from start to finish basically :)
 
wow both the smoker and your brisket look great!!!! I have never smoke a brisket and the only reason is the price for it here is to much to screw up. lol Anyway its not about me. Looks great and great build.
 
Here in Wisconsin at Costco I got mine for 3.99 a pound, it was a good chunk of change, but I've been looking forward to making one for a long time.
 
yea brisket here in rural utah its 699 a pound. But i plan on getting one soon. Me and my dad are building a reverse flow trailer smoker with all the goodies on it to travel and do some competitions. So we will have to get good at smoking brisket to be able to continue doing it. lol
 
That sounds awesome! Best of luck to you. I plan on trying out some competitions at some point maybe in a year or so
 
Good bend on that brisket. Congrats on the homemade smoker. Has to be a good feeling to put out good BBQ.
