First off congrats to the winners of the burger blowout. I went in thinking I had no chance with my entry but I managed a few votes.

The reason I didn't believe I had much of a chance is because I think simple is better most of the time and with a burger it's no exception. I knew I'd see stuffed burgers, and all kinds of crazy toppings and what not. The face on the winner really threw me though. Lol! Very inventive!

I believe if you start with good, quality meat you don't need a lot. I did a 50/50 mix of venison, and burger from my buddies farm.

Local (few miles down the road) Non gmo, grain feed farm burger.

Venison from one of last years bucks.

Seasoned with salt, pepper, onion, and garlic. That's it. Nothing fancy. Quality meat doesn't need to be killed with spices imho.

3 burgers out of 2 pounds of meat. Good size burgers.

I did stuff one of the three with some pepper jack cheese i smoked. I stuffed it because I just had a feeling it would go over better with the voters. In the end I didn't turn it in because I really thought it didn't fit, and wasn't what I was going for. Tasted good when I ate it though.

On the smoker. I smoker the burgers at 130 for a few hours.

Then with an onion slice for more flavor I used the sous vide to finish cooking the burgers through.

I didn't really see how people cooked the entries. I figured that would have been listed. I assumed the burgers had to be smoked to enter so I put some smoke on mine for a bit.

While the burgers were in the smoker I used the other smoker to smoke some cheese. Then I let it rest in the basement fridge overnight and forgot it.... found it the other day totally wasted.

Threw some venison steaks and some more venison burgers on the grill when I grilled my entree burger.

Burgers and steaks ready to eat.

Entree burgers and onion rolls on the Weber.

Tray of meat heading back in the house for burger build.

Burger smoked, sous vide, and grilled. Topped with two slices cheddar.

Onion roll grilled and ready.

A little ketchup and some homemade hot sauce.

Topped with bacon from local dairy raised pigs.

Duck egg from buddies ducks on top.

Best shot I have of the burger.

Team Wonder Dog waiting for scraps.

All in all this was a very fun contest. I knew my burger didn't use much imagination but it's what I like, and it's simple, mostly local ingredients. Contests like this really spark imagination and that's a great thing. So for that very reason I'm just happy to have received a few votes. Thanks to everyone who entered, and voted. Hope y'all enjoyed it.
