Just joined. My wife and I have been looking at the forum for about a week trying to get some insight into what we should get for our new smoker. For several years we have been using a basic, cheap Smoke Hollow propane box smoker but due to a bit of lotto luck (not big money, but a few hundred) we decided to treat ourselves to a new one. The choices are endless; gas or electric, temp controlled or manual, digital or analog? It seemed the more we read the further we were from a decision. Every variant has its adherents and its critics, its pros and its cons.
We finally just decided to pull the trigger on a Masterbuilt 40" electric digital (20070311). It is, as they say, in the mail. We also ordered the cold smoke generator attachment because we want to try some cold smoking. It may or may not have been the best choice but we both just got tired of going back and forth on what we should get and more or less just flipped the coin. I suspect we will make it work after a bit of trial and error.
Looking forward to spending a good bit of time here. My general forum habit is to read a lot and post a little and I suspect my time here will be the same.
