Well we tried to keep it quiet. Only told a few friends about it, kinda hinted here and there.
Some of you know that in April my wife and I went to Germany so my wife could meet her sister for the first time.
Yeah the social media works well.
My wife was born in Germany on base, her mother moved her and her 2 brothers back to the states while her biological father stayed in Germany with the AF. Well i guess the grass was greener in a German lady’s yard. HA ,So you can figure out the rest.
My wife and her half sister clicked like they been together forever. Both have the same expressions, talk the same and so on. We had a wonderful time with her and her husband and got along like we have know one another for ages. I have not seen my wife cry like that in many many years and then her sister went at it. We hated to go but had to get back to the furry kids. When we got back to S, FL from Atlanta my wife was like really bummed (that aint like her) I said whats wrong? She said I need to be closer to my sister (my wife grew up with 4 brothers) I said do you want to move to Germany? I got the look and a big Yes. Well we have lots of ducks to get in the pond then.
We went to the German Consulate in Miami, Got much info, papers and more info. Over the past few weeks we have gotten our Visa pics, All our medical, pensions, banking info squared away. Got the kids together on it and come to find out one of them wants to buy the house up north. (1 major thing out of the way) As far as the 5th wheel we should have no problem selling it as we have not had it on the road. All of our small items, small appliances and such are going to be split up with the kids. I am taking my stuffer, smoker, vac machines and what sausage material i can bring into Germany, my smoker can be converted to 220. Our Honda we need to see what if any emissions have to be made and will have to pay it off, If not worth it my son may take it.
My wife’s sister had an appointment on 6/6 to talk to the local agency and get more papers for us. Germany wants to make sure we are financially & medically covered for living in Germany. They require a German Bank as well as keeping a US based bank, also they told her that we need an address and basically take care of everything within the 90 days of arriving. We will need to get a German resident visa (no work, we are retired) Not sure if we can keep AT&T, I seen that T-Mobil was big there.
Anyways we are hoping for a move date of Aug/Sept of 2018. It's a major step for us and i'm sure we will have more to do within the next year.
I will still be active on the SMF, FB and so on.
So soon starts another chapter in my life from a S, Calif desert rat kid, DOD employee, Relocated to Lancaster County, PA, relocated to NEPA, relocated to Savannah Ga to a full time Rvr relocated to S, Fl and now soon to across the Atlantic. Yeah i know BUT its a whole year yet and lots can happen. YUP we know, if it dont work we get a house here in S, Fl and i get bigger toys again HAHAHA
