I ordered some new high-temp probes from the flame boss website to replace the original probes. I'm using a vision kamado and Flame Boss 200.

Unfortunately without testing I threw a $50 brisket on to cook at 225. Like always I walked away trusting the flame boss to fonts job checking my phone occasionally to see how things were going and i noticed the stall was lasting an unusually long time. I ignored it assuming it was because I injected the brisket with beef broth(never done that before).

Eventually i caught on that the pit was closer to 150 than the 225 showing on the pit probe. Do you think the probe is bad? Do I need to calibrate somehow?

Thanks

Jake

Sounds like the probe is defective.

Did you hook up an old probe to see if that worked?

Give them a call, and I'm sure they will send you a new one, if that is the problem.

The old probe I had went bad so I had to buy a new one. This isn't the first time I've had quality issues with FlameBoss. The port in the control unit went bad after just a few months, they sent me TWO replacements with defective ports before finally sending me a working unit. Just disappointed and I was hoping it was something I did wrong.

Thanks for the input.

I also had issues with a flame boss 200 straight out of the box. Probes weren't registering correctly. The fan kicked on and raised my pit temp way over target temp which was set for 225 and reading 391. Ran me right out of fuel within a few hours into my cook and had to start fresh again. Your issue sounds like a probe again. Contact them either by phone or email they sent me new stuff fairly quick but I stopped using my fb 200 and sold it with new probes
