Cwest, welcome to the site I just joined myself lots of good stuff in here. Are you going to build a horizontal or vertical smoker.

I can probably help you with the layout, a little bit about me...I spent 12 years fitting pipe in these old plants around here and 5 years in a boiler shop building Tanks and pressure vessels. The last 18 years I've been designing pipe in 3D software.

All you need is a template of the hole size a straight edge about 4 foot long (level), framing square and a regular tape measure, a soft tape measure like grandma used for sewing back in the day... something to mark it with. i can talk you right through it...piece of a cake padnuh Nuttin to but to do it.....

Few questions though.....

1. Do you have on legs or trailer... how is it set up.

2. Is it level.

3. Do you have anything laid out on the tank like the exhaust stack or the lid, anything at all.
