Thanks for letting me join.

I just bought a Smokin-It 2d smoker and  love it so far. To date I have smoked some jalapeno cheddar burgers and 3 slabs of baby back ribs which all turned out great.

Planning on doing my first butt (pulled pork) this Saturday and am a little nervous about screwing it up. I am not doing any injections at this time but maybe in the future. I am planning to use Jeff's Original Rub recipe which I purchase for a 7 or 8 lb butt.

I am a bit confused as how long this will take and when it will be done. Any tips are surely welcome

I live in the state of Michigan

Times vary so widely based on your temp, how often you open your smoker, moisture, outside temp, and wind... patience is key! I'd say you're probably looking 10-16 hours based on the above factors.

Good luck! Happy smoking!

Pork butt was a success, I ended up with a 9.84 pound butt. I did purchase and made Jeff's original rub and BBQ sauce recipes too.

I start and left my temp at 235 degrees on my Smokin-It 2D. It only took 14 hours 10 minutes to reach my 200 degree mark. Wrapped in foil covered with a towel and placed in a cooler to rest about an hour while we took the pontoon boat out.

I was totally amazed with Jeff's recipes, my Smokin-It 2D smoker and of coarse my first butt.

Thanks all
