I getting ready to build a RF smoker my smoker is 5'x30" 3/16 steel how big of fire box will I need ?

Follow the RF tutorial above, you can't go wrong.  You need somewhere between 14,000 - 16,000 cubic inches which works out roughly to a 25" cube.  Take your time on the design and get it right, a good design improves performance and fuel efficiency making it easier to operate which means you will be more likely to smoke more...

One of these days I need to convert the tutorial to a calculator like Feldon's. The tutorial is not terribly user friendly, especially for folks that aren't adept at math.

I agree. When I built my RF, had it not been for Dave's help I may have never figured out what all the calculations actually meant.
