Hello.

I ordered the ET-732, and it will be delivered on Monday.

I'll be putting the grill together today, and was curious what set-up folks have found works best for installing the ET-732 probes. I did a search on "ET-732 Install," but didn't see anything concrete. There were some references to drilling holes, others suggesting that the probe wires be wrapped in foil, and before I messed something up, I thought I'd check with people smarter than me. :-)

A lot of people seems to have the probes wires just hanging out of the smoker, out of the lid or top, depending on the type of smoker. I was thinking of running the wires out of the grease drain, but didn't know if they'd reach, and also if their performance would be affected by being subjected to dripping grease.

I also will need to seal the point where the probe wire goes into the probe, is that correct? I use basting with Wicker's-type marinades, so I'd sure like to keep myself from shorting things out! :-) If I need to do that, what methods have you found that work well? I'll have some RTV sealant if that might be an option.

I didn't think running the wires out of the lid would be good, as I'll be checking and modifying the lid/main smoker body closure to reduce leakage. I also wasn't sure if the probes wires could take being crimped by a tight-fitting lid once I get things sorted out.

I'm not averse to drilling a hole, but of course where and how it would relate to hanging the transmitter off of the front shelf would be good to know before I started poking holes in the smoker.

What set-ups have you all found works best for a Highland smoker when you're using the Maverick ET-732? Any tips, tricks, ideas, and words of wisdom on the installation and use of the ET-732 would truly be appreciated!

Thanks in advance for everyone's time,
