We had a pot-luck party yesterday and I made 14 Beer Can Burger (BCB) sliders.  They went so fast that I never even got to sample a bite of one.  So I made them again today.

I started with 1 pound of 80/20 Ground Chuck

Oscar Mayer Center Cut Bacon

My wife's fave spinach/artichoke dip

and for me, diced jalapeno's and mozzarella cheese topped with diced jalapeno's

I found that 2.3 oz. of burger is about a perfect fit for one slice of Oscar Mayer Center Cut Bacon...and, coincidentally, it makes exactly 7 BCB-sliders per pound.

I pressed the burger balls a little flat, wrapped them with bacon, and then molded the "bowl" using the bacon as the outer form.  It worked way better than trying to make the tiny burger bowl by hand and then wrapping the bacon.  I had to use a bigger paper plate when I formed the bowls.  It was also easier to use the paper plate as the bottom form.  Making 7 BCB "bowls" took about 5 minutes.

Time for the stuffing to be added...

Then pop them into the smoker for about 50-60 minutes at 275F.  I used mesquite A-MAZE-N pellets and my AMNPS.  Each BCB-Slider is 3 or 4 bites, like a big meatball, but way WAY better. Fully loaded and smoked each one is about 250 calories each (My wife makes me figure this each time - don't hate me for posting the calories)

BCB-Sliders are much easier than making mini-fatties by a long shot and are now my new go-to for tailgates and pot-lucks.

BTW - Walmart now carries A-MAZE-N pellets.  I didn't believe it at first...but here is the link

Looks good and the thread is nicely done....JJ

Looks tasty, calories and all! Back in my hiking days I'd need all of those to get what I'd need for the day.

I would've needed them airlifted in every night...

Nice job Eddie, I've done something similar using a salt shaker to form the burger, and filling the center with smoked cheddar, rub, and whatever hot pepper I had hanging around. Point for sure.

Salt Shaker!  Great idea.

Ty for the points!

Nice job on sliders!

They look great!

How much smoke flavor do the 100% mesquite pellets add in that short of a time?
They are pretty well smoked...probably at about 80% of the smoke flavor attained at the 3-hour level.  I normally use hickory for the short smokes, but gave mesquite a try and was satisfied with the results.

Thanks for the info!

Also, why are these called Beer Can sliders.  I looked and didn't see any reference to a beer can being involved so I'm probably just ignorant and missing something here :)

The full-sized ones use a beer can to make the "well" in the burger that you fill up with goodies...
