That's different. Had it with barley and rice but not dry corn. Ate these at least once a month growing up in a Polish household...JJ

Corn was staple food when my grandma was growing up (same part of the world as Poland). Wheat was for bread on holidays and for noodles, pies and cookies. Day-to-day carbs were corn (polenta, cornbread) and potatoes.

When i think about it ...my grandma would have probably laughed at me for thinking i made her proud for cooking a dish. She would have said: go raise that pig, grow and harvest the corn then i will be proud.

I love Halupkis (Cabbage Rolls), but I'm thinking I could even like these better, with Hocks & Corn!!

Spmething about hand minced meat, chewy bits of corn and ofcourse the smokiness of the whole ensemble ....reminds me of simpler times.
